Research Project: Green Competitiveness for a Stronger and more Sustainable Italian Economy
Scientific Sectors: SH1: SH1_2; SH7_6; SH7_7
The research project GREENGO proposes a thorough program for understanding various aspects of the capacity of Italy and its regions to access, consolidate and increase their presence on international markets as a function of green competitiveness. It further examines its possible developments, effects and future prospects. Only through a better understanding of the driving factors of competitiveness and its influences can more effective policies and strategies be planned to maintain or improve Italian economic performance.
In particular, this project has the following specific targets:
- to analyse the nature of the international competitiveness of Italy and its regions by decomposing it into a price and non-price competitiveness. Within the non-price competitiveness, we intend to isolate the green competitiveness;
- to measure the green competitiveness in Manufacturing and Service industries, which represent the main components of the Italian trade balance;
- to gauge how different components of competitiveness affect economic growth and the environment;
- to provide policy measures to foster adjustment towards more stable environments and escape the unemployment trap.
